Upon further reflection on "Super Mario Brothers: The Movie" I have come to the conclusion that it reminded me quite a bit of the original Ninja Turtles movie. It had similar bad jokes, outrageous action scenes, early 90's cinematography, scripting and acting... Though I think the Ninja Turtles movies made more sense (if that makes any sense) as a congruent storyline. That and they actually followed the canonized storyline much more accurately.
